Tipp opens track season at Troy

While spring break depleted the Tippecanoe track squad, they did compete at the Up and Running Invitational at Troy last week in an event that was moved back a couple of days due to the weather conditions.

In the boys events, the Red Devils finished 15th overall on the day out of 19 teams who were at the Invite. The Tipp girls finished sixth overall with 34.5 points, trailing Northmont, Troy, Ansonia, Chaminade Julienne and Butler.

Aaron Hart was the top 100 meter dash runner for Tipp in that event, finishing 37th overall with a time of 12:10.

In the 1600 meter run, Luke Schwieterman finished fifth overall with a time of 4:59.19, while placing right behind him was his teammate Everett Muhlenkamp placing sixth with 5:00.36. Nathan Lollmeyer was 22nd for Tipp running 5:30.00 and Ben Pierson was 25th (5:34.80).

Xavier Allen finished 21st for Tipp in the boys 400 running 56:54, Cillin Snider was 24th (57:180 and Brayden Kocher also ran under a minute finishing in 58:35 good enough for 31st.

Running the boys 800 was Rowan Allison with a time of 2:24.45.

Hart also ran the 200 for Tipp and placed 32nd with 25:06 while Evan Cooper finished 40th.

Finally in the 3200, David Beason placed 23rd with a time of 13:24.32.

In the boys field events, Max Howard finished eighth in the high jump as the Tipp athlete leaped 5’9” and his teammate Zane Fowler was 14th (5’6”). Fowler came back in the long jump and finished 13th (17’11.25”). In the boys discus, Tipp’s John Phelps placed 17th, throwing 101’3” and Howard was close behind placing 19th at 99'10".

Howard was Tipp’s best throw in the shot put with a toss of 32’3.5” to place 34th. Also, Mikey Stanford finished eighth in the pole vault with a leap of 9 feet.

*The Tipp girls also had several solid finishers on the day. In the girls 100 dash, Kaylyn Schultz finished 19th with a time of 13:75, while shortly after that event, Kali Greth placed fifth in the 1600 meter run with a finish of 6:16.30.

Alyssa Magato placed second in the 400, running 1:02.46, less than a minute behind Natalie Schoenherr of Butler. Tipp’s Briley Barton was fifth at 1:03.71.

Chelsea Dettwiller finished third in the girls 300 hurdles with a time of 50:61, while in the 800 Greth came back and ran 2:41.66, good enough to place her sixth overall. Belle Stanford was also 16th for Tipp with 2:53.81.

Magato finished tied for fourth in the girls 200 running 27:04, while Dettwiller was 13th overall with a 28:24.

In the girls high jump, it was Magato shining again as she placed fourth by leaping 4’9”, five inches behind the leader from CJ. Schultz was 13th in the long jump and Barton placed 14th.

Stanford placed 20th in the girls shot, with a throw of 25’4.75”.
