On Monday, October 30, the juniors and seniors of Milton-Union High School competed in the annual Powderpuff Flag Football game, with the seniors taking the win 21-7, making their record 2-0 for their high school career.

Starting off strong, the seniors scored a touchdown on the first play of the game. Quarterback Carly Zimmer rushed the ball to the endzone. Kicker Ava Berberich was able to secure the seniors the extra point.

Also in the first quarter, Berberich scored a touchdown by a handoff from Zimmer, putting the seniors up 13-0. Once again, Berberich’s kick was good, adding an extra point.

The second quarter ended with no scores from either side. There were multiple flags and a continuation of turnovers leading into halftime.

The juniors came out in the third quarter and scored a touchdown, with Jenna Brumbaugh scoring off a pass from a teammate. She rushed to the end zone and dodged multiple people attempting to take her flag. Kicker Madelyn Crowe had a close call with her kick, but it was good enough to snag the juniors one more point, putting the score 14-7.

No other scores were made in the third quarter, although both teams got close a few times. Even during the fourth quarter, both teams battled back and forth to try and make it to the end-zone but were unsuccessful until the end of the fourth quarter.

The seniors ran a trick play, putting Berberich at quarterback. After the snap, she ran straight to the end zone for a touchdown. Her third kick of the night was good as well, putting the seniors up 21-7 to end the night.

Both teams were fun to watch and had many good moments! We give a special thanks to all the football players who coached both teams and even the cheerleaders for keeping it upbeat! The Powderpuff game is always a fun night. The seniors wish the juniors the best of luck next year!
