For The Record - Adding to the addition

When you visit the downtown area, you’ll see the newest addition going up quickly on the old West Milton Record office. Three generations of the Guess family were spotted constructing the walls. With 100 years of combined experience, Guess Remodeling is proud to be part of the expansion. Ed Guess, along with his sons Erinn and Clint, have restored many homes and businesses in the community over the years. Erinn’s son, Gavin, spent his Christmas break from school learning the family trade and assisting in the downtown construction.

Jim Saver, owner of the building, is looking forward to being part of the exciting new growth in West Milton. The expansion will continue to be home to Revive-It, a home decor and restoration store. Shop owner Sarah Copp says, “I’m so excited to see our community gaining momentum. This new addition will just add to the excitement of it all. We have a lot of great things happening!” Copp houses her current store inside the doors of the old West Milton Record office at 2 S. Miami Street. The addition will make way for another business to move in.

While it hasn’t been decided if Revive It will remain in its current space or shift to the new addition, one thing is for sure: exciting things are happening. Jim Sarver shared that he is looking for someone who might be interested in running a cafe. “I want something that won’t compete with any other business we already have in town,” he said.

Part of the addition includes a front porch. It is sure to be a cozy gathering place for the community. Sarah is part of the downtown committee that is bringing revitalization to the town. Project Revival launched and has hosted many community events such as Third Thursdays, Rock the Hill, and Holiday parades. It truly takes a village to make a difference, and in West Milton, the village is hard at work, inspiring everyone to play a role in the hometown family.
