West Milton – For The Record: Patterson’s Flowers

Growing up in her grandma’s flower shop, alongside her mom, Kassi Bateman found herself blooming right where she was planted. The opportunity arose for her to purchase Patterson’s flowers and without hesitation, she dug into the new business adventure in 2021. Being a third-generation florist, Bateman was well aware of the workload that comes with running a shop. Once in West Milton, she put the “petal” to the metal and began growing her business, one stem at a time. Through each special occasion arrangement designed, Bateman is reminded of just how precious life moments are. Along with her husband, Chris, she is fully committed to the flower business, but tending to their family is a top priority. Closing the shop down for the weekends allows Kassi and her family to spend quality time together. With three children, ranging from ages 9-17, their sports and activities keep the family hoping. In today’s busy world and push for progress, it is a great trait in our community to see a family investing as much time in their children as their business. Bateman has been thrilled with the blossoming friendships that have formed through the shop, plants are not her only buds.

Bateman shared sweet thoughts, “Our goal is to always have the freshest flowers. I pick up flowers daily from our supplier so we keep less in stock that will not go bad before use, but keep a very nice variety that we can stock our cooler nice and full. We receive calls daily thanking us for beautiful flowers and our friendly staff.”

West Milton residents were thrilled with the news that the florist would continue with the Patterson name that has adorned West Milton for many years. While Bateman and her family are currently residents of Troy, they have their eye on the quaint town they are growing a livelihood out of as a possibility for the future. When she’s not designing arrangements, you can find the hometown florist making custom tumblers, which are also for sale inside the shop. Patterson’s Florist has a standing, weekly order with Hometown Bakes just across Miami Street from the floral shop. Rooting other businesses on and being part of helping others blossom is what West Milton shop owners are known for.

This coming week, you can dash from door to door, patronizing the downtown businesses during the 33rd Annual Christmas Open House. Pattersons is opening their doors for the first time in their new location this week. The store is stocked full of surprises. You might even spot the Grinch and Santa Claus waiting to greet you. Ladies, keep to yourselves, Santa’s “tulips” are for Mrs. Claus only!
